This outlet of Nanumal Bhojraj in Vashi adjacent to the Mafco market and is running strong since many years now. A frequent visitor and one of my favourite pure.veg family restaurants in Vashi. Located amidst chains like Jaffer Bhai’s and Bhagat Tarachand along a very busy Apmc market road, it might be difficult to figure out this spot for the newbies. Ambience : The restaurant has an Ac and a Non-Ac section. Always crowded and long waiting queues in the weekends will be seen here. The Interior and decor is decent and nothing very fascinating. The location including the unkempt surrounding area is a put-off because of which a 0.5 is decreased. And the first timers might actually doubt about the hygiene and cleanliness but the regulars keep these worries at bayFood : The menu has mainly Indian and Chinese cuisine including jain varieties and special dishes and offers during the festive seasons. Many dishes make nanumal bhojraj so special than the rest : 1) THALI : Their thalis are loaded and priced decently too. The food is great. The special tadke daal with a layer of fried onion is awesome. Ive had tried thali at Bhagat tarachand and here too and undoubtedly this one beats it in quantity and price.2) Chaas in Beer bottles – Similar to BT but still stands out than the rest.Cold and perfectly seasoned buttermilk.3) Masala Papad – This masala papad isn’t topped with the usual sev but the thick and spicy sev. 4) Special Butter chapati – Soft chapatis with a huge cube of butter. They will bring the chapati piping hot each time 5) The Dry vegetables – Have tried the mix veg dry and it is crispy and unique 6) Moong dal halwa – One of the best halwas ever. Laden with desi ghee yet tastes delicious. These are some of the must try dishes and would seldom get these anywhere else. The other dishes taste good as well. The quantity of chinese starters is great and surprisingly most of the starters taste good too Service and value for money : The service is highly volatile and totally depends upon the amount of crowd present. At times during peak hours one might not even get food while some times its the quickest. The food is totally value for money. Overall I find this place good for vegetarian indian food as it is great for family dining although the surroundings and its vicinity are worrisome.
